Senator Claude Carignan thanks Roméo Dallaire for his contribution
OTTAWA, May 28th, 2014 – Senator Claude Carignan, Leader of the Government in the Senate, wishes to acknowledge the contribution of Senator Roméo Dallaire to the Senate of Canada, who announced he was leaving his position as senator. "It is with sadness that I learned that Senator Roméo Dallaire will soon be leaving his position as a senator. His contribution to the work of the Senate is undeniable and he will be greatly missed”, said Senator Claude Carignan.
Senator Dallaire was particularly devoted to the cause of soldiers suffering from post-traumatic syndrome. He headed the UN observer mission in Rwanda during the genocide of 1993-1994. “Senator Roméo Dallaire’s list of accomplishments is long and it was an honour to work with him in the Senate", said Senator Carignan. "On behalf of the Conservative Senate caucus, and on my behalf, I wish to offer my best wishes for his future endeavours and the best of luck in fulfilling his many projects", said the Leader of the Government in the Senate.
