Royal Assent ceremony was held in the Senate on April 23rd 2015. Royal Assent is the approval by the Crown of a bill that has passed both houses of Parliament in identical form. The Red Tape Reduction Act will help reduce the red tape burden on small and medium-sized businesses in Canada. The Victims Bill of Rights will give victims of crime the right to information, protection and participation. The Rouge National Urban Park establishes a new type of federal protected area. The Protection of Canada from Terrorists Act will help provide tools to ensure the security of Canada in our world. The passing of Bill C-479 will allow strengthening the voice and support for victims of violent offenders. Finally, April 30th becomes a national day of commemoration of the exodus of Vietnamese refugees and their acceptance in Canada after the fall of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam War.
